Jim Parker

Formed SSPW - May 1993
Joined the Army when I left school, served 7 years.
Qualified as a bricklayer and was a builder for several years.
Worked for Mencap and Supported people in various care environments around Hampshire.
1989 We became Respite Carers for Adult Placement ( now known as Shared Lives). We were Carers for
18 years.
Married Jeanette in 1990.
Started SSPW in 1993 previously working closely with Social Services and the Adult Placement team
on a pilot project for domiciliary care/outreach work.
The service is based on a 'working service' which has continued over the years. Always striving to be
the best, diversifying to meet the needs and wants of all the clients we support.
2009 purchased a Farm which has now developed and evolved where I work daily (7 days) with many
people solely attending the Farm project.
2015 The Farm project was expanding and becoming busy , now Sean Parker is the General Manager of
SSPW and along with the team of staff do an excellent job to provide a quality Day Service.
Hobbies - Carriage driving my pony, enjoying time on the farm with Jeanette and the Team.

Hobbies and Pastimes- I enjoy all types of photography, DIY, holidays and spending time with my Children and Grand Children.
I worked for an industrial contractor until the mid 90's then took a change in employent and joined SSPW temporarily in 1996. still here now and havent looked back. I enjoy spending time with my family, 3 children, (2 boys and a girl) and at present 4 grand children and now live in a bungalow with my wife of whom I married in 1988.

Hobbies and Pastimes - Photography, Theme Parks, Liverpool FC.
I joined SSPW straight after leaving school, stated as a trainer /supervisor and in 2015 I took over the Manager's role. I love coming to work and always try and make SSPW the best it can be. In my spare time I enjoy visiting Theme Parks with my wife and 2 Girls. I also spend time watching and supporting Liverpool FC.

Hobbies and Pastimes - Beer festivals, Holidays, and Family time.
Having spent 17 years working for M&S I decided I needed a career change. I spent many years previously around adults with special needs and decided I wanted to start working at SSPW and here I am 10 years later and I havent looked back. In my spare time I like spending it with my family, friends, and grandchildren, I also enjoy going to beer festivals and sampling the Ale's with my beer buddies. when I can fit it in a holiday or breakaway is a bonus.

Hobbies and Pastimes - Holidays, Cooking, Family, spending time on the Farm.
I started working with Adults with special needs at coldeast hospital in 1979, went on to be an Adult placement carer,(now shared lives). Until 2001 when I started work at SSPW. I have always been involved in SSPW since it was started, doing food and buffets etc...

Hobbies and Pastimes - Musician/Drummer, Cycling, Cooking (vegan).
I've been self employed most of my working life as a Musician and Tradesman. I am married to Karin and have two Grown up Daughters, I Joined SSPW in 2016 to have a change of direction and help others to learn some skills.

Hobbies and Activities: Shed Club
After 12 plus years working for Mencap in resedential then supported living establishments for adults of both genders. Further experience gained across agencies working age groups covering new borns to centenarians over a period of around 10 years.
Having come across SSPW while visiting with clients from Mencap, day service and an opportunity to hone my woodworking 'skills' I finally answered Sean's call to leave Mencap and do a proper job.

Hobbies and Pastimes - Play all sports when i can but having 4 kids take most of my free time.
When i was younger i trained in coaching young children with all abilities sports and life skills with S.F.C.football club, then after that i went into construction for 10+ years.
Now looking forward to this new oportunity with the team at SSPW.
